Volunteers Project - Session 3
Sisters Natalie and Katie were up next for the volunteer shoot and I thought it would be fun to try a bit of a grungy shoot. The weather wasn't looking great so where do you go outdoors and remain dry? Somewhere under cover like a flyover would do the job. I'd scoped this place before and always wanted to try something using the pillars and the graffiti. To add a bit more grunge I asked the girls if they had leather jackets they could wear and it was great to hear that they did and they turned out just perfect. My idea being that the leather would create some specular highlights and add to the mood I was looking for.
As it turned out the weather was actually really nice and the light came in from both sides of the flyover fairly strongly giving excellent back light and shadows to play with. This was excellent for sculpting the girls' faces and showing their lovely cheek bones.
I was absolutely bowled over by Nats and Katie by the way they got right into the mood I was looking for and got into the poses I asked them to with no problem. Ten minutes of awkwardness to start with as would be expected but then absolutely getting right into it.
I'd like to thank them again for being brilliant in front of the camera and bearing with me and Stephanie as we got the gear arranged and set up. Also for coping with the thoroughfare that we hadn't expected so early on a Sunday morning.
Here's some from the shoot. There were too many I could have posted here.
